The Hope in My Heart

The air this morning is cool but the hope in my heart burns as a flame.
Warming me with thoughts of you and our next embrace.
I think of your touch and the softness of your lips.
I remember our kisses and the expressions on your face.
I long to see you again as I imagine our togetherness.

Synopsis:

A morning meditation on absence and anticipation. Despite the cool air, Scott is warmed by hope and memories of his lover—soft touches, sweet kisses, tender expressions. The poem captures how love's flame burns brightest in moments of separation, sustaining Scott until the next embrace.

Author's Note:

This poem came to me on a cool morning when Priya and I were apart. I realized that even physical distance couldn't diminish what I felt—if anything, the separation made me more aware of how deeply she had already touched my heart. The contrast between the cool air and the warmth inside me became a metaphor for how love can sustain us even when our beloved isn't physically present. Every memory—her touch, her lips, the expressions on her face—kept me warm and hopeful until we could be together again.
