Dainty Daisy

Dainty Daisy,
Petite Flower
Two ways to describe my lover

Brown Eyed beauty,
Electric Lady,
21st century fox.

Sexy Cool that's my lover
Free Spirit,
that girl has a mind of her own.

Freak in sheets,
saint in the streets,
any man's desire.

That's my lover,
I'll say my other...
half that is.

Read my mind and discern my heart,
you're the one, answer to prayers.

Synopsis:

A playful, multifaceted celebration of the beloved using various descriptors and pet names. Scott describes Priya as "Dainty Daisy," "Brown Eyed beauty," "Electric Lady," and "21st century fox." She is sexy, cool, a free spirit with a mind of her own, both "freak in sheets, saint in the streets." The poem concludes by identifying her as his other half, the one who can read his mind and discern his heart—the answer to prayers.

Author's Note:

This poem came from wanting to capture all the different facets of Priya that I see and love. She's not just one thing—she's dainty and delicate like a daisy, but also electric and powerful. She's a "21st century fox"—modern, confident, stunning. I love that she has a mind of her own, that free spirit quality that makes her uniquely herself. The line "freak in sheets, saint in the streets" captures the beautiful duality of intimate passion combined with public grace. And yes, she really is my other half—she can read my mind and discern my heart in ways no one else can. She's the answer to prayers I didn't even know I was praying.
