Loving Affection

Loving affection romantic embrace,
Tender sweetness on your lips I taste.
No lusty eyes or deceitful heart,
my soul is joined with my other part.
Set aside until the fullness of time,
we come together bound with invisible twine.
My God will lead us, His path we take,
two becomes one no man can break.

Synopsis:

A formal, ceremonial poem written in rhyming couplets that emphasizes purity and divine orchestration. Scott speaks of loving affection and tender sweetness with no deceit, describing souls joined as "other parts." Set aside until the fullness of time, they come together bound with invisible twine. God leads them on His path, and what He joins as one, no man can break.

Author's Note:

I wanted this poem to have the weight and formality of a vow or covenant, so I used rhyming couplets throughout. "No lusty eyes or deceitful heart" was important to me—our love isn't based on shallow attraction or games. It's my soul joined with my other part. The phrase "fullness of time" comes from scripture and speaks to how God's timing is perfect. We were set aside, prepared, and then brought together at exactly the right moment, bound with invisible twine. When God joins two people together, that bond is unbreakable. This poem is my declaration of that sacred, permanent union.
