Measure of Love
How can we measure the strength of our love?
The invisible feeling more precious than gold.
Is it strong enough to stand the test of time?
No man can know what the future holds.
Our love is brightly shining on our path.
Giving us a glimpse of what may be ahead.
Our beautiful beginnings are steadily growing,
building a foundation to survive the rising tide.
Not built on shifting stands of selfish desires.
Built on loving kindness, tenderness and care for each other.
We can measure the strength of our love.
With the since of our minds
and the grip on our hearts.
Our love can be felt, physical and real.
An immeasurable force of sweetness beyond imagination.
It has consumed us as gentle as dew settling on grass.
And we feed the flame of passion with our desire for each other.
A philosophical exploration of whether love can be measured and if it can withstand time. The poem questions, then answers: love is more precious than gold, and while no one knows the future, love shines brightly on the path ahead. Their beautiful beginnings are building a foundation to survive the rising tide, built not on shifting sands of selfish desire but on loving kindness, tenderness, and care. They can measure love by the sense of their minds and grip on their hearts. It's an immeasurable force, physical and real, that has consumed them gently and is fed by desire.
I kept wondering: how do you measure something invisible like love? Is it strong enough to last? No one can see the future, but I believe our love is building a solid foundation. I thought about Jesus's parable of building on rock versus sand, and I realized we're not building on the shifting sands of selfish desires or shallow attraction. We're building on loving kindness, tenderness, and care for each other—that's the rock. The poem asks "How can we measure?" and then answers itself: we can measure it by the sense of our minds (we know it intellectually) and the grip on our hearts (we feel it viscerally). It's both physical and real—I can actually feel it—yet it's also immeasurable, beyond quantification. It consumed us as gently as dew settling on grass (so natural, so quiet) and we feed the flame with our desire for each other. So yes, I believe our love will stand the test of time.
