Alone But Not Lonely

Alone but not lonely
I feel it when your not with me.
Two but one were connected,
and deeply falling in love.

Like roots of a tree by the river,
We're growing stronger with time.
We sustain each other symbiotically
together we're beautifully designed.

I want never to be without you,
I need you from now on.
Hand in hand we're holding
Desiring side by side

Forever we'll be together
For eternity you and I.

Synopsis:

A meditation on the paradox of feeling connected even in solitude. Scott feels "alone but not lonely" when Priya isn't with him because they're two yet one, deeply falling in love. Using the metaphor of tree roots by a river, he describes how they're growing stronger with time, sustaining each other symbiotically, beautifully designed. He never wants to be without her, needs her from now on, and declares they'll be together forever, for eternity.

Author's Note:

I discovered something interesting: I can be alone without being lonely because Priya and I are so connected. Even when she's not physically with me, I feel her presence. We're "two but one were connected"—we maintain our individual identities while being joined. The image of tree roots by a river came to me because that's how we are: growing deeper, growing stronger, sustaining each other like a symbiotic relationship. Trees by water have the strongest roots because they're constantly nourished. That's us—we nourish each other, we're beautifully designed to fit together. I don't just want her from now on; I need her. Hand in hand, side by side, forever and for eternity—that's the only future I can imagine.
