Imagination

Take a peek inside my imagination
as I open my thoughts to you.
And I’ll show you loving kindness
from a heart that’s true.

I think of our embrace
each time we meet.
We hug with wrapped arms
and with a kiss we greet.

Even holding your hand is erotic
we have passion to our finger tips.
But that’s not enough when I’m with you
so much more I have in mind.

I think about the softness of our flesh
as the skin of our naked bodies touch.
It’s just the beginning, our libido on fire.
It’s lover’s passion not lust.

My thoughts now focused
on how we move together.
Making love like it’s the first time
yet knowing what each other needs.

Giving pleasure satisfies our own desire.
Our movements synchronized
with one goal in sight,
our souls in perfect union
we become one in the night.

Our closeness is unique,
our division impossible to find.
Our blended bodies moving
drawing me inside.

My thoughts of you are sexual,
respectful, holy and high.
You are the woman who changed me
to a completely different guy.

Introduction:

Scott opens the most private room of his mind to Priya in this poem — his desire. He does not treat physical love as something separate from spiritual love. He treats it as one of its highest expressions. The poem moves deliberately from the gentle to the intimate, and closes with the most personal admission in the entire collection: she has changed who he is.

Author's Note

I debated whether to include this poem in a collection others would read. I decided to keep it because removing it would be dishonest. Physical love between two people who are committed to each other is not something to hide. It is something to honor. I wanted Priya to know that my desire for her is not separate from my respect for her — it is part of the same thing. The last two lines are the truest in the poem. She has changed me. That is simply a fact.
